These are some recent quick and loose character sketches. Depending on which characters are involved in a storyline, I may not draw certain ones for long periods, so I find it helpful to practice drawing them.

Frequent sketching of the characters also helps me to keep tweaking them slightly to improve and simplify them. Over the course of a strip, the way I draw the characters always evolves. I naturally get more and more comfortable drawing them until it become so ingrained that little improvements start creeping in. After a while, they can look quite different from when I first started drawing them, but the goal is to keep improving and simplifying the way they look. You could call it the evolution of the character – visually.
